African Leaders should learn from China

China’s railways carried 121 million passenger trips during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, which marked the longest official Chinese New Year break in history — nine days.

Let’s note…

On the final day alone, 18.73 million trips were made by rail, the highest single-day total ever recorded, capping a season of nonstop human migration across the country.

The scale went far beyond the holiday itself. Over the 40-day travel rush, China recorded 9.5 billion cross-regional journeys — a figure larger than the world’s total population — with a combined distance long enough to reach Saturn. A rapidly expanding high-speed rail network has reshaped how people move, making it possible to cover hundreds of kilometers and cross multiple provinces within hours. Travel patterns also shifted: many senior citizens chose to spend the season with their families in warmer southern cities, while a surge of overseas visitors from 33 countries and regions — including Argentina, Russia, the Netherlands, and Spain — poured into China during this traditional festival.

The take home message for African countries

Such massive flows are powered by decades of large-scale infrastructure development, now forming a highly coordinated transportation network. Yet beneath the soaring numbers and shrinking travel times lies one constant: the pull of home. Each ticket sold is a thread in a vast web of journeys, binding families, cities, and regions into a single, moving portrait of modern China.

African Leaders should be conscious of thier Daily missions. They should know their people did not vote for them to embazzel public funds but to bring development and ameliorate their living conditions.

China has been puting in a lot of work for decades now and their people are happy. We can do same here in our various countries in other to meet the basic needs of our citizens like Health care, Education, Transport, Water and Energy, and other infrastructures.
